OK, so as I understand it, and please correct me if I'm wrong...
The Ontario Government would like to go ahead and kill off all the cormorants in the Great Lakes in order to help the sport and commercial fishing. But, they want further studies first.
There is also another group that plans on going ahead right away (possibly outside the law) and are calling upon people to show up and help pick off as many of the birds as possible.
Personally I agree with a cull if it is justified and fish like our fantastic salmon are in danger, but I read an article somewhere or other that said the cormorants were not eating the salmon young but actually feasting on some nuisance fish or other. Am I correct? Comments?

That article sounds interesting. Do you know where I can find it? I'd like to read it.
Coming from Toronto, I had no idea about cormorants and thought it was cruel to want to wipe out an entire species. Then some old farmers on the island told me that they really don't have any natural predators and don't do much other than eat off all the salmon and other fish in our lakes. Hmmm...a very controversial topic!
Chrissy121875... Here is the link. Please note that it is quite old now and the governments plans have probably changed.
